Chocolate Snail

I’ve always been a big fan of chocolate snails since my childhood and this week I baked them for the first time. I especially like them because they are easy to make, the dough is soft and inside is full of chocolate. The preparation time is around 1,5-2 hours.

Ingredients:
500 g flour
100 g sugar
1 pinch of salt
2 eggs
7 g instant yeast
250 ml milk

100 g melted butter
10 tablespoon sugar
8 tablespoon cocoa powder

Preparation:

Since I used instant yeast this time I mixed all the ingredients together thoroughly. Cover bowl with a towel and let dough rest for 60 mins at room temperature. Roll out the dough into a 1 cm thick rectangle. Glaze the dough with the melted butter and dust with the mixture of sugar and cocoa. Then roll up the dough tightly and cut 1,5 cm pieces with a sharp knife. Put baking paper on a baking tray and place the snails on it. Bake them at 180°C for around 25-30 mins. TIP! After half-time of baking around 20 mins take out the snails and sprinkle them with a little milk so this way tha dough will be softer.
After taking out the pastry wait until it gets cooler and dust with icing sugar.
